Option Expiration - November 2014

When I logged into my account on November 5, I  was shocked to find 1,000 shares of Crescent Point Energy (CPG.TO). My 10 CPG $42 puts were assigned a few weeks prior to their expiration. I have occasionally had call options assigned early because the buyer would like to collect the dividend.This is the first time I have have experienced this scenario using puts. After receiving the shares, I sold 10 CPG April/15 $42 calls. If my shares of CPG reach $42, I will sell them. If CPG is below $42, I will generate more income by selling more calls.

After receiving CPG shares, I was eager o roll my in-the-money CVE Nov puts in the event this may reoccur. I bought to close my 10 $29 and my 10 $30 puts and sold 15 Jan/16 $28 puts. for a gain of $276.28.

I rolled several of my in-the-money option positions to a credit. The gains will be listed in my November month end blog post.
